When a :) is not so :)
Have you ever noticed how easily we tag :) on to everything? I’m guilty of doing this and have found that it is extremely annoying. Especially when it’s thrown on to the end of something sarcastic or hurtful. It’s like the person thinks that if they tag their comment with a smiley face, it’s ok.
Since when did it become ok to say things we never would have said to each other in the past with the premise that a stupid emoticon will cover all indiscretion and wrongdoing?
Basically, when did we lose respect for each other? When did we walk away from common courtesy?
From this day forward, I aim to limit my usage of the stupid emoticon (unless it INDEED warrants a smiley face) and just be nice to people. Is it really that difficult?
